As Comic-Con officially kicks off today, I wanted to share some of my favorite places to visit in San Diego. Earlier this year my family and I visited this beautiful, sunny city and found many places that were fun for both adults and kids alike.
Gaslamp Quarter – If you’re close to the Convention Center you’ve seen the Gaslamp Quarter just across the way. Streets are filled with small shops, restaurants, bars and nightlife. We chose not to rent a car during our trip and found the Gaslamp Quarter to be a fun area to walk around during the day and night.
Living Coast Discovery Center – If you want to head away from the Convention Center, the Living Coast Discovery Center is accessible by car as well as the San Diego Trolley. The center features turtles, birds and many more animals in this National Wildlife Refuge on San Diego Bay.
Balboa Park – Close to downtown, Balboa Park offers beautiful gardens, museums and many cultural attractions. We weren’t able to see all that the park has to offer, it’s huge, but just walking through the gardens and taking in a few museums was fun. Our kids loved the miniature railroad and the carousel
Visit the USS Midway – The USS Midway is one of America’s longest-serving aircraft carriers. The attraction allows visitors to walk throughout the ship including in crews quarters, on the flight deck and inside models of airplanes. There’s even a flight simulation ride that’s worth waiting in line for.
There’s certainly a lot of hubbub going on around San Diego this week and whether you’re a fan of comic books or not, Hotwire has you covered with some great Hot Rate® Hotel rates from $199 a night!
