Travel in January? Yes.

The craziness of the holidays is over. Now it’s back to the grind of a more regular routine. But what about that goal you made to travel more in 2016? Did you know that there are really only about four official long weekends this year? WHAT?!

Luckily, one of them happens to be this month, and, according to our data, the lowest average nightly hotel rate is in the month of January. So don’t procrastinate, book yourself a little getaway from the holidays and make a dent in your 2016 goals. These 11 (of the top 50 cities) have their lowest median nightly rates in January, as well:

  • Albuquerque
  • Cincinnati
  • Chicago
  • Cleveland
  • Kansas City
  • Milwaukie
  • Minneapolis
  • New York City
  • Nashville
  • Pittsburgh
  • Sacramento

So, we think it’s pretty safe to say that January is definitely a great time to travel, especially if you’re taking a spontaneous trip and booking within a week or two of your arrival. What are you waiting for?
